This week’s Foto Friday is really remarkable. Bosley has recently developed a product to help thin hair look thicker and fuller. The Bosley Hair Thickening Fibers are available in a variety of colors for purchase at Fine Reflections Salon.
The product works by sprinkling keratin fibers into the hair then holding them in place with a special spray. According to Bosley, the fibers are charged with static electricity so they intertwine and bond with the client’s own hair. The results are amazing– hair looks thicker and filler naturally.

There are a lot of trade secrets in the beauty industry– tips, tricks and methods stylists spend years mastering. Yet the secret to a fabulous style isn’t the latest product or cutting technique. The secret to a fabulous style is communication.
Speak up during your appointment to ensure a fabulous style that meets all your expectations.
Good communication makes a world of difference when you’re in the salon chair. There’s a funny saying amongst cosmetologists that sums up this idea: “I’m a beautician, not a magician!” Your stylist can’t read your mind, and you can’t expect the perfect haircut or color if you don’t communicate exactly what it is you want.
Here are a few tips to help you communicate more effectively next time you’re in the stylists’ chair:
1. Come prepared. Nothing is more frustrating for a stylist than for a client to not know what they want– then to dislike the final result! Think about what you want to do with your hair before you arrive at your appointment.
2. Use real examples. Telling your stylist you want your haircut just like Jennifer Aniston is not helpful. Jen’s had a lot of different styles through the years, and there’s no guarantee the cut you’re thinking of is the same cut the stylist has in mind. Say things like “I want my hair to hit the top of my shoulders” or “I want color that is dark brown with a little tint of red” to ensure you paint a clear picture of your vision.
3. Ask questions. If the stylist asks if you want two inches off make sure you can visualize two inches. If you’re not sure, ask your stylist to show you the amount on her comb. Ask about different color options if you didn’t love the results of your last visit, and ask about styling tips if you’re not sure how to recreate your new look at home. You’re paying for your hair stylist’s time, so use her as a resource during your appointment.
4. Speak up. If you don’t completely love your hair be sure to speak up! Client satisfaction is our top priority at Fine Reflections Salons– if you’re not happy, we’re not happy. If you go home and realize later that you aren’t pleased with your service be sure to call the salon within 24 hours. Nothing is worse for a stylist than hearing that a client didn’t love their hair last time.
A new year is upon us, and with it comes the typical new year’s resolutions. The most popular resolution is, of course, to lose weight. But physical health is just one part of wellness and taking care of yourself.
Why not revise your resolution and promise to focus on your whole self this year? Fine Reflections offers two services that help you feel pampered and relaxed and are actually good for you, too!
One of our most popular wellness services is a massage from our licensed massotherapist, Danni Brown. Although many people think of massage as a luxury treatment it also comes with a variety of health benefits. Increased circulation can help boost your immune system and improved flexibility can help prevent injuries. Massage packages from Fine Reflections include multiple massages and are perfect for clients dedicated to continued wellness.
Another wellness service available at Fine Reflections is reflexology. Reflexology involves applying pressure to specific areas in the feet that coordinate with areas in the body. Reflexology has been known to reduce pain, decrease stress and promote circulation. Aside from a relaxing foot massage the health benefits are invaluable.
So what are you resolving to do for you this year?
It’s true what they say about fashion repeating itself– popular haircuts and styles seem to cycle through every generation. Bangs made a big comeback a few years ago, and longer hair for guys is popular nowadays, just like it was a few decades ago.
Braids seem to be all the rage lately… just like in the 70s! Whether it’s on the red carpet or on your favorite television program braids are popping up everywhere on everyone. We predict there will be more braid-based updos for homecoming this year and the trend will continue into 2012.
What hair style do you wish would become popular again? Or better yet, what hair style do you hope NEVER gets repeated?
